Bath Christmas Markets welcome the Festive Season

Largely regarded as one of the best Christmas markets in Britain, the Bath Christmas Markets open officially tomorrow, running to the 6th of December. The famous market, located between Bath Abbey and the famous Roman Baths, attracts about 225,000 visitors to the area each year.

With the historic British city of Bath, a UNESCO World Heritage site, as its backdrop, the market is sure to become one of the most popular attractions in Britain this festive season. The market will boast 123 wooden chalets selling a variety of gifts, toys, decorations, and food, with a focus on handmade and fairtrade items.

Though shopping is clearly the main attraction, there will no shortage of things to do for those wanting to take a break from gift hunting. The market hosts three separate performance areas as well as a Victorian Carousel. There’s no need to leave the market for sustenance, either, with stalls selling everything from gluwein and mulled cider to sausages and crepes.

The markets also boast an impressive entertainment line-up including a variety of children’s entertainers, carol singers, and musicians. Those lucky enough to be in attendance tomorrow can see Hollywood actor Nicholas Cage switch on Bath’s Christmas Lights, provided they get in early enough—the event is free to attend, but only 3,000 people will be allowed in to the viewing area on Milsom Street. Those who do make it in will be treated to live entertainment starting at 4:30PM, with Toby Anstis of Heart FM arriving at 6PM, and Nicholas Cage flicking the switch at approximately 6:30PM.

For a preview of this popular UK attraction, the Visit Britain showcases a video of the Bath Christmas market along with a variety of videos highlighting attractions across Britain at.
